30"x30"Since I've had my studio door open for a lot of public events lately, I've set it up like a gallery. I have dozens, really scores of small paintings that I rotate on my exhibit walls. The public parades through, happy to get out of the sun and interested to see art. Because it's in the Museum, some don't realize it is my studio... where I work! But work I do, about 6 hrs a day, 6 days a week.
I also have heard myself explaining to the public, many times, that I really have no control over where a painting goes. I'd like to think I do... but inevitably it takes a path of it's own desire, and I let go and see what emerges. With that inspiration I updated my artist statement.
This painting above has been in the works for 6 months, but it's now done! It's so different working large. They scare me, and for that reason I've decided to do more large paintings.
